On the evening of Friday 24th November 2023, St Andrew’s hosted an art talk in partnership with St Nicholas Church, Slaughterford. With both churches needing to raise funds for church building repairs, the sell-out response which raised of over £1,200, was much appreciated.
With the church full, local resident, Dr Chris Stephens, gave a fascinating talk about David Hockney. This was enhanced by illustrating slides and the many insights he was able to give because of his years working with David Hockney while he was curator and head of displays at Tate Britain. Since July 2017, Chris Stephens has been Director of The Holburne Museum in Bath.
In addition to the excellent talk, guests enjoyed refreshments before and after the talk accompanied by some jazz and light music from Eric, our regular organist, on our recently donated grand piano.
